School Management: Governance & The Changing Landscape

The Education Team at Samuel Phillips Law Firm, commercial partner of SCHOOLS NorthEast, present a FREE event on the changing landscape for schools in our region.
 

The Government has announced that ALL English schools will become academies by 2020.  At the event we will cover the implications for maintained schools and those already established as academies. We will discuss the running of a successful school and the part played by a strong governing body. 

What makes a good governor?  How can you attract governors with “the right stuff”?  Is your current governing body compliant and representative of your community?  What’s the best way to run a governors meeting?

Chaired by Mike Parker of SCHOOLS NorthEast the event will see Emma Knight, Chief Executive of the National Governors’ Association & Scott Walker, Director of the Academies Ambassador Programme present on Governance. Chris Anderson & David Laud of Samuel Phillips presenting an overview of the implications of the Education and Adoption Bill and impact on our region, plus the head teacher view from Carl Faulkner from Normanby Primary School. There will also be a panel Q&A to address your specific queries on governance and the Education Bill.
