Reinvigorating the ‘Wasted Years’: raising standards in KS3 English

26th Sep 2016

SCHOOLS NorthEast, in partnership with Ofsted, is holding a one day conference focussed on raising standards in English.

Date: 26 September 2016
Time: 09:00 – 14:30
Venue: Ramside Hall Hotel, Carrville, Durham, DH1 1TD

The aim of this event is to support English teachers and senior leaders in identifying issues and raising standards in KS3 English, especially for the most able and most disadvantaged pupils. Delegates will look at KS3 in the contexts of KS2 and KS4 to ensure that they can maximise this period and support students to achieve at GCSE and beyond.

The conference will combine input from HMI and school colleagues with practical workshop activities. It will be led by Sarah Hubbard HMI, Ofsted’s National Lead for English.

It will help schools identify key issues around the quality of English teaching and outcomes in KS3 and develop ways to address them. Speakers will discuss national and regional trends and there will be a focus on transition from KS2 to KS3.

This conference is predominantly aimed at secondary heads of English and their linked senior leaders.  We would actively encourage you to send groups of delegates, including a senior leader, to ensure that your school maximises the impact of these sessions.

The cost of attendance is £80 + VAT, with the discounted rate of £60+VAT for SCHOOLS NorthEast Partner Schools. If you would like to send two or more delegates from the same school, we are offering the discounted rates of £70+VAT and £50+VAT (Partner Schools) for multiple bookings.

Please note: this conference is only open to secondary school delegates. To book your place, please email info@schoolsnortheast.com.
