This seminar is being led by Thomas Llewellyn- Jones, Prevent Education Officer for Tower Hamlets, London Borough Council. The authority was a national pilot developing resources and ways of engaging schools with the Prevent Strategy. The seminar is appropriate for primary, secondary and special school staff.

The sessions will include:
• An overview of Prevent and its implications for schools
• Lesson ideas and teaching resources
• The potential of social media, fake news and its links with extremist groups and ideologies.
• Opportunity to network, share ideas and your experiences with colleagues

Tom Llewellyn-Jones has been the Prevent Education Officer for Tower Hamlets since June 2014. Prior to this he was the Head of RE in schools in London and Newcastle.Since being a PEO he has delivered training to all schools in Tower Hamlets. He has also developed Prevent checklists, mapping documents and classroom materials that help ensure schools meet the expectations of the Prevent duty. He regularly leads sessions for staff, students and parents and will make bespoke resources for schools that help with the teaching of controversial issues. Many of his resources can be found on the Educate Against Hate website.
