No school can be rated outstanding if it is not supporting its most disadvantaged children. Looking beyond Pupil Premium, this event will explore the practical steps that schools can take on a day to day basis to tackle poverty and prevent inequality.

This event will seek to address the following issues:

• How can you ensure your school’s policy and practice doesn’t inadvertently discriminate against families with less financial resources?
• How can you ensure that planned activity doesn’t make assumptions about family resources?
• What are the hidden costs families face relating to school attendance?

Speakers include Sara Bryson, Policy & Research Manager at Children North East and representatives from North East schools who can share their experiences and give practical examples of what works.

Date: Thursday 12 November 2015
Time: 12.30 – 3.30pm (with an optional networking lunch 12.00 – 12.30pm)
Venue: Inspire2Learn, Redcar and Cleveland, TS6 9AE
