2017 will see the third of the highly successful biannual NEW Leaders Conference. NEW Leaders aims to inspire and help 16 – 18 year old girls from across the region to focus on the importance of developing their leadership characteristics and skills as well as helping to raise the aspirations of young women in the North East.

The Conference will see some of the region’s high flying women and emerging talent coming together to both inspire and offer guidance to girls from across the North East on how to find and define their own routes to success and make it to the top in whatever context they choose.

Our key note speaker for the 2017 NEW Leaders Conference is Jacqueline de Rojas.

Jacqueline is the President of techUK and sits as a Non-Executive Director on the board of UK technology business Rightmove plc.  In 2016 she entered the @Computerweekly Hall of Fame as the most influential woman in UK IT; she was voted Computer Weekly's Most Influential Woman in IT 2015; and was listed on Debretts 2016 500 People of Influence – Digital.

In addition to high calibre female speakers, workshops and practical advice at the Conference, the aim is to provide further resources for the girls and schools so that they can build on what they have learned at the Conference and to support the girls as they begin to plan for their future.

Delegates and staff attending past NEW Leaders Conferences have given excellent feedback saying students were inspired and ‘ready’ to take on the challenges that lay ahead of them.  A fantastic way to start an academic year.

What does being a School Partner entail?
By becoming a partner in NEW Leaders, your school will be allocated up to 50 places for female students aged 16 – 18 to attend the Conference.  You will also play a role in contributing towards the shape of the day, however all of the administration and Conference organisation will be managed by Newcastle High Schools for Girls and the University of Northumbria.

How much will it cost?
There is no cost for the partner school, only a commitment to fulfil your allocated numbers of students for the Conference.  Schools will be responsible for their own transport to and from the Conference venue.
