Data Protection Compliance workshop

9.30 am - 2.30 pm

18th May 2017 – Durham

19th May 2017 – Sunderland

As a School you handle personal information about individuals (Children, parents and employees) which means you have a number of legal obligations to protect that information under the Data Protection Act 1998.

Are you or your employees aware of the legal requirements of the Data Protection Act? Does your Data Protection Policy explain how the 8 principles are embedded in your school?  Are your employees aware of how the safeguarding & child protection, AUP and Whistle Blowing policies link to the Data Protection Act Policy?

The monetary penalty is now up to £500,000 for serious breaches of the Data Protection Act.

In 2012 the ICO carried out an audit on over 400 schools in nine local authority areas and produced a report that highlighted the key areas of improvements within schools whereby the issues are still pertinent during 2016.  At the workshop you will have an opportunity to complete the questionnaire produced by the ICO and also take away a copy to audit your employees’ knowledge within your school.
